Untold Story: The Luweero War 1981–1986 by Kato Jacob Kalibbala is a 144-page historical account. The book provides a localized, grassroots perspective on the five-year bush war in Uganda that brought the National Resistance Army (NRA) and President Yoweri Museveni to power. Unlike macro-political histories, this book focuses on the "ordinariness" of everyday citizens whose lives were upended when the bush war moved into their backyards. It is told through a patchwork of firsthand accounts from the family and friends of the late Zakayo Kalibbala, a prominent local trader in the village of Kawumu who became a critical—though initially reluctant—collaborator and contact for the rebel forces.
